Default A few preventative questions

I have a few local car meets and charity events where id like to drive the car to, and not worry about any trailers. I dont want to have to bolt off the chute or anything just drive it there and drive it home.

So what are things to consider before taking your skinnie, chute, up-pipe, drag car on a short drive?

The up-pipe guys.. what has been the damage or dangers of getting caught in the rain? And how bad is it if your chute gets wet?

i dont think you are allowed to have a chute, and open exhaust on a public road

You are right, but the car still has tags, signals, lights etc etc. It just has an up-pipe and chute hanging out of it... some of the cars that drive to the event are waaay more illegal. But cops dont bother us since its for a good cause.

Depends on where you live and how much they care. Depending on how your chute mount is on the car, for the most ive seen they are easy to disconnect and remove from the bottom point unless your whole mount is one solid piece. If so then id say leave it on and drive it.

I drove my car with open up pipe here in AZ without issues. If i had a chute on the back i dont think anyone would really care. The only authority that does care is the highway patrol. Local police could care less that i have my exhaust coming out of the hood. Hell its quieter than almost every honda with full crappy exhaust or running open header.

Id say as long as the chute doesnt completely cover the plate and to where its still able to be read, then go for it.

I wouldnt want to drive around on skinnies though but if its not that far then again go for it.

BTW its Preventive not Preventative, lol.

Well I moved to the D.C area. The locations are about a 10min drive from my house. No highway driving. The cute does have an easy disconnect but people and kids like to see all of those cool parts on the cars and its nice to put on a show. One dude drove a 10.5 car and stole the show.

Sorry about the typo, did this on my phone

i would say it won't hurt the chute if it gets wet, but if it does then when you get back home you need to take it out of the pack and open it up to let it dry completely before you go to the track again.
