Meth will make more power and aren't we in this game to make more power?
If your going to go thru the trouble of running eth might as well use meth and make more power...

Correct!!
Due to the differences of a/f ratios at stoich. Meth at 6.4 and eth at 9.1
you will get more btu's using meth since you'll be using more(roughly 30%),
but not only this since the cooling properties of meth is greater you will also get more fuel in the cylinder due to extra cooling.

i see alot of mis conseptions in this thread. ive had methanol in my fuel system for over a year without flushing it and there is 0 corrosion. the stuff we use these days is alot better than what was used in the past. and as far as ethanol being cheaper, i pay $110 for a 55 gallon drum of methanol. so about the only price difference will be the extra oil you will use with methanol.

I need more comments like this. What fuel tank did you use?

How often did you change your oil, does methanol gas past the rings that easy, to contaminate the oil?

Dam you got it pretty cheap. I just paid $130 for 55 gallons.

Either way I don't see how it would be cheaper to run eth either...
It doesn't make sense to me...

any fuel will contaminate your lube... thats why you change oil every so often... alky based fuels will dilute your oil quicker than gas therefore racers like to change it often but there are alot more reasons to that question that i will leave to the expert chemists in here...

Here in Sweden E85 is cheaper than gas.. I was considering E85 for my boosted b series but my tuner warned me that it is realy hard to tune and detonetion sounds alot different on E85 than on gas.. that is why i chose gas in the end.. I made 524 hp on an engine dyno on pump gas. B16, 84.5mm, sc61, 30psi before the turbine wheel jumpt of the turbo axle. I am waiting on a gt35r and we will see how it goes...

we just have an off the shelf rci tank with no anodizing.

and it depends on the motor, but generally id change the oil every 3-4 passes. but we were just using 5-30 regular quaker state. royal purple makes some that wont let the water contaminate the oil. and we used sunoco methanol which we found to have ALOT less water than vp.

Unfortunately, no (well, I only can speark for NHRA). The rulebook says pump or racing gasoline only. If it was allowed, I'd give e85 a shot in a heartbeat!

How did you notice that Sunoco methanol absorbed less water? Just by looking at it?

Stephanie talked to them yesterday and they said they do not carry it anymore????? Actually I will be coming to AR FAB. in about 2 weeks or so, to do some work on our car. I would need to come up with some empty drums.

Hi Snowflake, yes I know your dad very well. How is he doing and how is the new car coming along? Tell him I said hi!!! Thanks for the link!!!

Jeromie, I think some funny stuff is going on with the pricing. You will probably see it go up in price. And if it does, is it worth it??? Its only $150.00 cheaper than C16

If you find some drums, let me know and I can wire you some money a.s.a.p.!!!

Thanks!!!
Luis

Luis</TD></TR></TABLE> We had a price increase out here a while back, due to all the war/terrorism crap overseas. But it was like 25 cents.

I will get exact pricing that I can get it for, and let you know.
