Default East Coast VS. West Coast Shootout Sign In Here

Even though there is no real race (Yet) I would like to see how many of you would like to be involved? This is a full interior and full glass "STREETCAR event.

So, I would like to get some opinions about Classes, tracks, and a date of the event and we can work from there.

Personally I think a September date would be good, but i'm not sure about what track would be suitable. Geographically Kansas would be the most Neutral site (even though I heard route 66 raceway in Illinois hooks like a ****). Here's a list of Dragstrips in the US, Canada, UK and Australia (not that we care about any others )
http://www.intergate.com/~lboswell/dragstrips.html
Please keep to the topic and make suggestions that are relevant (no arguing)

Route 66 in Joliet is one of the nicest tracks around....realyy sticky. Last year, we were snapping axles on stock tires because of how sticky it is. When Kenny Tran came to town a few years ago, we were talking to him and he told us that 66 was the best track he ever raced at. Plus, Lisa Kubo hit her 1st 9.21 down here.

I'm aware of the thread but I thought it was just all talk and nothing concrete? If it's already on then I would love to be on board, do you know who's putting it together?

Well, one of the most important things to look at are dates. September is good, but check the schedule to see what is going around at that time. It's not good to hold an event around the same time as another. People always go to the one that has more recognition.

Sounds like a plan.......the important thing now is picking a date and finding sponsors. Local promotion is not a problem.

Its gonna be impossible to book a track like Rt 66 with this much notice...

Just letting you know.

This is why i was saying have the shootout at a pre-established event.

It depends.....GT66 always books late. How organized is that MWCC car club thingy? You know they're a freakin joke, but they usually are able to book it in June.

The question is....how are the costs going to be covered to rent the track for an event? I'm sure if you can contact a few companies and do a little smooth talking, and have a solid plan, they would be happy to sponsor it.

We'll just have to split you guys down the middle Seriously, what side do you want to be associated with? We really might have to split you guys down the middle, unless you have a better idea?

Does anybody have any info about these tracks? They're all NHRA approved (not like that matters )

Well the best thing to do first is call each track for availability in whatever time frame you want to hold it at as well as cost.

I personaly think SAR( San Antonio Raceway) would be a nice selection. It's right off of I 10 and as far as booking the track I don't think it wold be that hard of problem.

Well, need to pick a month at least. September sounds good. I guess the next step is to find interest in this. No sense booking a track if no one is going to go.
