Dump or feather???
First off let me start by saying that I haven't been to the track yet so consider me a newbie at this. When you guys launch, do you feather the clutch (whatever that means, please explain) or do you rev it up and dump it? The reason I'm asking is because I was trying to achieve the best launch in a BMW Z3 2.3 and when I dump the clutch from 2500 RPM's it spins the tires and will not stop until I either brake or let of the gas to about 1/2. The tires need to be replaced soon but I was hoping someone could give me some insight into how to launch and get minimal wheel spin. Thanks. By the way, in case your wondering... it's not my car, I just drive it a lot. I drive a automatic turbo civic.
Dumping the clutch will get you no where but broken drive train and a lot of wheel spin if you are using street tire. Lowering the tire pressure and riding the clutch or feathering the clutch is the best way to net good 60ft. and ets. Slightly release the clutch as you are launching until you feel the car hook, then just bang the gears out and pick up your slip. Its easy as that.
