Re: DSR Motorsports rebirth thread
Pull the sheet metal roof off and install a CF one, save on some lbs! There are plenty of epoxies that are just as good as welding panels.

its easier to cut holes in the floor for the main hoop to go down through and then slide plates under it when you cut it to length.
To each his own though, this aint danny's first ball game.

Cutting holes in the floor is not an option this time. That was done on the first cage and it has two plates. One under the car and on top of the floor. The hoop is welded to both. Besides, the funny car cage would be damn near impossible to fit with the roof in it.
The carbon roof is out now because the new NSCRA rules say it has to be a metal roof. Beleive me, I was already planning that.LOL

Can someone please educate me on what exactly has to be upgraded/changed when going from a 10pt 8.50 or slower cage to a 25.5 cage?

Re: DSR Motorsports rebirth thread
Chris, my car is 25.5. There is your example lol
Floor bars, more in the halo, funny car, frame rail bars, you know the drill.
I'm anxious to see how it's done with an OEM rear section
Oh, and better yet my car came from an 8.50 cert although it already had the funny car cage. But Tom did add a few bars in there that were needed as well.
Danny, would you mind scanning the print of the spec for us? I've only briefly seen one. I don't think Xtreme race cars owned one when they did mine the first time around.

i don't have to change anything in the rear section because the driver will be positioned foward of the main hoop. A few changes are made in the rear if the drivers head is even with are behind the main hoop. All of the changes in mine are from the hoop foward. The hardest part is going to be the foot bars. I haven't exactly decided on how I am doing that yet. LOL

in Merman's car, the front floor bar(a-pillar to a-pillar) rests behind the pedals, when you sit in the car, your heel rests on the bar. its kinda comfortable.
there are things they let you get away with like that, because if you even tried to put the bar ahead of the pedal, it would be in the front subframe.

I can't scan it. You have to have written permission from SFI to reproduce it. They are very strict about it. They want you to buy it.

According to SFI, you have to have an x like that "when the center of the driver's helmet is on center or foward of the main hoop." According to the SFI pics, this is the way his is made. Mine will be, according to SFI "the drivers helemt is foward of the main hoop." In this case, my bars will remain the same. However, there are some changes on back halfed rwd cars that I haven't been worried about.
As far as the pedals go, you can just use a Tilton aftermarket pedal set. Then you can mount them however you like. You can even adjust the seat and steering location to work with the location better.

I've got CNC pedals, and plan to run their gas pedal too. No tilton $ here lol
I don't know how far back it is but maybe it's under where he will sit, but the last 3 pics are new to me. It looks like he's got some new box tubes under there but maybe it's just that way stock and he painted them. He does have the gussets but the cross bar underneath is probably under the B-pillar since the back of the car is so short.
