Default Downpipe straight down or out bumper

I have my E-cutout at the downpipe and I can either have it go straight down to the ground or out through the bumper. Straight down is easier for me, but do tracks frown upon that? I used to see everyone do that, but now everyone has it either bumper/hood exit. Thought maybe the tracks don't like that because it would dirty up the surface of the track. It's a turbo car btw.

my e cutout used to dump down pretty much underneath my right foot. it wasnt too bad unless the cutout got stuck open, plus id get fumes in the cabin a bit.

tho not my downpipe, my dump goes out my bumper and i dont get any stank in the cabin.

if its easier to go under the car do it, make sure there is a downturn post cutout so its not blowing right on the unibody/framerail/fuel and brake lines

Thanks guys, just don't want to go to the track and have them say "we don't want that dumping straight down. Do guys just go out the bumper/hood for looks and ease?

I agree going under car for ease and being that your exhaust gasses will exit into a low pressure area rather than going out the bumper/hood which will create a little back pressure due to exhaust gasses fighting against the air passing through at high speeds.

Though it does look great coming out the hood.

Is there any advantage between exiting in front of the block vs exiting after the engine under the passenger compartment? I figured since I will only use it at the track, I don't really have to worry about fumes, because I should be getting some airflow under the car.

Do you have testing/data to back this up?
