You do not use ANY syncros in a liberty. Reverse has never had a syncro even stock.

ITR and GSR's have a 5th/reverse syncro on the top of the stack.

OP, Do you have a picture of it assembled? Using a cuff?

just leave that synchro out, thats what i do, it IS the reverse synchro. best thing to do is put it in a gear before going into reverse...so you don't grind the **** out of it without that synchro.

As for the synchro, you can remove it. I would also remove the synchro cone it rides on. Its common to not get into reverse sometime if the engine is not running, especially if the reverse teeth are flattened. It just means the teeth on the idler are lined up with the main shaft. Roll the car alittle and try again. Should go in.

If it still doesn't work even by rolling it forward alittle and maybe even try putting it in R while rolling. If nothing works try changing the shift change assembly. it may be the SF shifter. Had an issue with 1 not going in R. They took care of it right away.

ok so there are different reverse gears for a b-series trans (the difference is the gear height) that is was stopping the trans from going in to reverse. i have also left out all the reverse stuff out and it works fine thanks for the info
