Default Differential install help!

I bought an OBX lsd for my 95 prelude. I have everything apart and now Im to the point where I have to put the old carrier bearings onto the new lsd.

Do you have to shim the new lsd?

Are there any tricks to check the backlash? or do I have to put the whole thing together then check it?

Thanks guys!

Please don't re-use old bearings. New bearings are cheap. As for setting back lash, that's not done on FWD boxes. You do however need to set the bearing preload. Yes, the whole case should be tightened when you check the preload on the diff bearings. Honda makes quite a few different thickness shims for their boxes. I will say however, many times the QUAIFE diffs don't require any different shims than the trans comes with. Not sure how accurate OBX is though.

I'd tell him to re-use the old bearings, why waste brand new OEM bearings on a chinese differential?

I use Quaife differentials and new OEM Honda bearings in every install, and I have only had to change the shim once. I measure them every time.

I'm the *******? I gave you my opinion, take it or leave it.

Yes, you need to completely assemble the diff, put it in the case, and measure the clearance with feeler gauges.
