Default datalogging tools and sensors.

I know there is a thread on dataloggers but I'm looking for info on what sensors and what to log. From the amature weekend racer to the all out race cars in the import world. I got some great info from the backpressure thread and some good info on the data logger thread. Now looking for info on what should you do first as far as the most important to log to the I just have to log every possible thing there is to log! I just purchased the aem v2 and the AQ1 and the aem 4 channel egt setup.

Besides the normal EMS parameters...(map, tps, IAT, ect, rpm)

Inputs and outputs (what they are doing and when and why)
Wideband
Oil pressure
Fuel pressure
Wheel speed (driven vs non driven)
Oil temp
Trans temp
Emap
Wastegate position
Gps (position and speed)
EGTs
Current draw on item like a fuel pump, etc

And plenty more...just look on a website like Racepak, Motec, AIM and see what they offer and these are things people are logging

You have to data log timing belt tension!

well i know i can log it with my snap-on meter attachment so i would guess there is some kind of sensor you would put inline that measures current running through a wire?

An ammeter measures current, some sort of ammeter that reports to your EMS.

The new Racepak power distribution module can do this as well as the Motec PDM. Since these devices are all solid state and software controlled, they are also no loggable as well.

Handy to see if your fuel pump is drawing more current on a pass than typical...could mean your fuel pump is starting to show signs of failure or a connector ormwiremhas become corroded or broken..etc

Yes this is Chris

With the Motec you can measure current draw to just about every output. I don't know about other EMS's.

With a PDM you can, not with an ecu.
