Default cometic gaskets

Hey guys, i dont know if any remember this thread:https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=680070

Anyhow, we tried to make the GOD DAMM SCE COPPER GASKET to work, we had another block and head machined with o-rings and receiving groove exactly the way reccomended by the tech at SCE that R-Bergenholtz recomended i talk to and it is still not even close to working, as soon as we hit boost (like 15psi) it pops everytime.

Now, i had a really hard time getting Cometic to make us a gasket for our motor (i had to pass thru somebody else to get them to make it!)

They made one for us, but it is flat, there is no fire ring or bosses wathsoever, they would not make one for us with bosses, as it costs too mutch to make for a one off aplication.

Now i know i have to run a o-ring on this gasket since there is no fire ring or bosses. I have read in a mag that the Aem civic is using a flat metal gasket with o-rings, they mentionned the kind of o-rings in the article (crazy gas filled o-rings wich i obviously wont have) but they didnt mention how mutch did they protrude from the block.

My o-ring is a stainless wire in the block that protrudes 0.0075 and the head has a receiving groove of 0.0035.(that was the setup for the copper gasket)

I was thinking of shaving the head to remove the receiving groove since you dont need it with a metal gasket and leave the block the way it is and try the cometic metal gasket.

i<m just not sure if the stainless wire is not too ridgid (its sce that furnished the wire) and if i would need to use copper wire instead. And if 0.007 is too mutch protruding or not enough.

If anybody has any experience with this(i know Aem guys come here often) or knows a good tech that works at cometic, please give me his name and i will call cometic asap. I have been trying to solve this problem for a year now without succes

what i think you need to do is run o-ring (rubber) like we did with the dirt bikes we can not do with our all motor but a smaller bore i think you could put rubber o-ring and would work just fine

We run a standard 3 layer cometic gaskets on our motors. Our block is o-ringed we use bare copper wire for the o-ring. The head is flat no receiver groove. We run a lot more than 15 psi boost and do not have a bunch of problems.

Some times the simplest things work the best

Good luck
