I've heard of people using a chromoly subframe for 92 civics.

How much weight does it save? where can I get one?

 

i think the front chormoly sub frame was made by area 51 im not sure if they are still avaliable

I emailed a51sales@area51fab.com yesterday, I guess I shouldent expect them to respond right away but I'm trying to find out if they are still available before I look into getting one built.

Just a note, that subframe is not legal in NHRA...

sorry no pics on civics, i know a couple of local civics here have it on, one allmotor and one hotrod. they got theres from area51.

ive seen pictuers of a tubular subframe on a talon.

 

yes they are nice pieces but as stated by tony 1 they are not legal.

i dont know why they are illegal for competetion, i just like to call the nhra all the time and ask questions before i do anything and i was told on 2 seperate occasions that they were not allowed.

as far as the weight issue im pretty sure you can shave 50 or so lbs. off the car with such a piece made out of chromoly.

is it not allowed or is it just a weight penelty? would the car still be able to run in a race?

 

shant, personally i wouldnt worry if it was illegal or legal. u race in canada and unless ur circuit up there follows NHRA rules specifically i say find one and buy it. let us know for sure if and/when u find one. im interested in some pics of this thing. as i said in an earlier post, i had no clue there was one in existence until u made this thread.

no weight penalty will accure if you use this why? because you do not alter any suspension changes just different materials
