cam scaring help?
these are pro2"s all the intake vtec lobes look like this. is this normal or do i have a problem? motor has maybe 10hrs dyno time and about 8 runs.
how much clearance in between 3 coils at full lift? LMA not bottoming out before full lift? That is not a cam problem, that's something with valvetrain or LMA

every single lobe exhaust and low cam intake all still look brand new. but the vtec lobe literally look like there just soft and almost smashing the metal. there is shards of metal all around the lobe. not just at the full lift point
The vtec lobe sees twice the load, from both springs.
We used to have those problems all the time until we switched to brad Penn oil. It's not the cams fault. Insufficient oil and a lot of spring pressure will kill cams and rockers.

how long would it take to get a case from you?
its actually kinda funny your replied to this, the only reason i found this out was because i just bought 2 of your cam trigger kits and was in the process of switching both my cars over to cop!
well i hope thats it. im going to try to salvage the cams and put some extra rockers i have in it and will prob be ordering some oil from you monday. i just cant believe it did that much damage that fast. what weight do you recommend for a drag only car. built to all honda spec clearances? bearings anyway.
I recommend 20/50.
Keep in mind, if the cam surface isn't smooth, it's much more likely to damage another set of rockers even with good oil. Just think about what's going on, it's metal on metal with a thin film of oil preventing wear. A rough cam will 'cut' through the oil.

unless anybody out there has a pro2 intake cam they would like to get rid of
so what oil to run on a street engine with agressive cams? since all modern oil have been depleted of zddp...i hear people use motorcycle oil, rotella diesel oil, valvoline vr1....i need a high zinc dino oil till i break in the engine...then ill switch to royal purple or joegibbs..
no pro2 cams but i got rockers....we can work out a deal if interested...
