I can't believe nobody has asked if you were planning on using a cardboard plenum lol. We are still on honda-tech right? Looking good! There's gotta be a mini pro stock scoop out there somewhere.

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
crankshaft came in today
im sure you guys know this is a 95mm h23 crankshaft from the non vtec prelude.
here is a little known fact:
there are actually 2 usdm 95mm h23 crankshafts available.
this particular one is from a 94' and up prelude. the other is from the 92' prelude. and both were available on the 93' prelude.
here is the queston of the day: anyone know the difference between the two usdm h23 crankshafts?

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
NOPE
this would be correct if we were discussing the h22 vtec crankshaft which was given larger 55mm main journals when the blocks were changed from closed to open deck in 96' or 97'.
but they stoped production on the prelude non vtec (h23 crank pictured above) here in the usa before giving them the larger 55mm main journals or open deck block.
now the jdm h23 vtec does use an open deck block w/ 55mm mains, but it wasnt available here in the usa.
anyone else care to take a guess?? i will give you a hint. anyone whos ever removed the crank pulley from a 92' and also a 94'+ prelude may have noticed the difference haha

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
haha
yeah one has a special coating which will hold up to the kind of power Joe makes
actually the difference is the newer crankshafts have the snout drilled and tapped for a larger diameter bolt.
although i couldnt tell you why honda decided to do that?? maybe they had an issue w/ the bolts snapping or coming lose? im assuming the larger bolt will allow more tq to be applied during tightening. i do know i have seen h series bolts back themselves out before for no good reason.
just thought that would be interesting to all the h series guys out there lol
anyway, i will be droping this crankshaft off at the machine shop soon to make sure it is balanced to 10k rpm. not that im sure i will be shifting that high, but since i had one break on me before i want to make sure we take every precaution this time around.

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
here is another cool part which showed up in my mailbox today:
braided clutch line to help clean up the engine bay
and here are the pro 3's which ive had laying around since sept. THANKS TONY
cant wait to see how these things perform.
one of the goals w/ this build is to shift the powerband upwards a good bit. im hoping the custom intake and exhaust manifolds along w/ these cams will be what we need to make it happen.

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
the motor isnt assembled yet obviously
but the block is already sleeved thanks to Jim Justice
im just waiting for the custom pistons to come in before the final bore/hone can be performed. then i will start assembly.
dont worry, i will post plenty of pics as more parts arrive (everything has been ordered) and during assembly
i do have some other parts laying around so maybe i will get some more pics up tomorrow.

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
Randy FWIW, i remember talking to Jeremy L. last year about larger cranks and he said that he had a problem with snapping the crankshaft bolt while motor was running so on his larger billet cranks ( like the one i had) he actually used a completely different bolt/thread pitch to try and resolve that problem. Maybe honda was dealing with same issue

its very possible. i dont see why else honda would go to a larger bolt?

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
here are some more pics of various parts i have for this project:
custom fuel rail from Shawn@ Rosko racing:
balance shaft block off kit also from Shawn:
plenty of -6 and -10 hose and fittings for fuel and breather:
breather tank:
seats and harness:
also got a set of black tweed covers
wideband and alt wiring location on chassis:
view of guages:
the integra dash fits cleanly over the guages and the cluster bezel was trimed to fit. the only other thing on the steering column will be the bideband display.
hope everyone likes

i dunno ? wouldnt they limit your travel slightly ? i thought the oem metal is like a peak in that area ? i know when i had my car as a street car, with the coilovers all the way down it would hit once in awhile, but that **** was rediculas low.

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
it happens a lot on street cars that are really low, you hit a bump and the upper A-arm hits the inner wheel/fender well there
