Default Is this the best drag slick setup?

I sold my old slicks for a bigger set this next season. My old wheels were not wide enough. I just wondering if these wheels will fit. I am going to run 15x10 wheels with M/T 28x10.5. its going on a 2004 civic si EP3. help please so i can get these ordered and to the shop for mounting. I made 501whp last year. I am retuning and ordered full lexan and lightened other areas aswell. Is this the best slick setup? Thanks.

these are for the back:

and the front:

You don't need 28's with 500whp. 24.5s will be just fine.

I probably running 26s. The car made 501 but is going back for retuning next month. going for 700-800. I had 24.5x8.5 this past season and had all kinds of traction problems. do you think that some M/T 24.5x9 would work ok? The M&H slicks i had were no bueno. i talked to a few other guys who ran M&H and they hated them aswell. I talked to a few other guys at a event in Englishtown and they suggested going bigger. Any suggestions would be great.

traction is way more than just tires, suspension, suspension setup, corner balance, traction bars, boost by gear/speed/time, and that's just the beginning

Exactly! Even if the car makes 800+ you still shouldn't have to have 26's. Sure they'll work but the larger the tire, the harder it is on the drivetrain. Guys have been putting down close to 1000whp on 24.5s for years so if you spend some time on the other areas you should be able to do the same and keep from breaking as much this way.

small problem....if i go up a size in width then i have to go up in height. MH from everything i heard (and experienced) dont hook well. do you guys think that the 26x10x15 will work ok. or they have 24.5x8x15. only sizes that will work for me. nothing in the middle.

Oh yeah forgot you were running 15s instead of 13s. The 26x10 is gonna be hard on the drivetrain for sure. Then again if you're trying to make 800+whp surely you have the best axles/tranny you can buy. Good parts still fail and that tire will make it more likely to happen, but best of luck!

Pretty much everyone in the neon world runs m&h and love them. Over here it seems more guys like m/t. I very seriously doubt theres a big difference between the two brands.

Ever looked into a smaller front brake setup? The extra sidewall with a 13" rim seems to help a lot and that would allow you to run the 24.5x9s. I dunno whats available for the ep's but I'm sure it could be done.

Just found something that might be the winner. Toyo has a set of slicks that are 25x9x15. I think that i will try these out. i read a bunch of good reviews. worst case scenario i have to order another set later.

I have no real experience with mh slicks but I have a bunch of friends who have bought them and no matter what we do to their set ups they never seem to 60ft as well as MT. I think it might just be easier to make the mt work cause ive seen pro drivers using mh tires so they cant be all bad right?

In this order: MT, then M&H, then studded snow tires, then Toyo

ok so i narrowed it back down to three: MT 24.5x8x15 or Hoosier 26x9x15 or MH 24.5x8.5x15. I dont want to use the MH but Im worried that the MT are to small. But I dont want to break alot with the Hoosier. Any suggestions?

Did you do what I suggested and look into a smaller front brake? If you're having traction problems with 24.5s at 500whp then I say you probably have some suspension issues to work out, but it could very well also be the 15" wheel that's not helping. If you could fit a 13" wheel and go with a 24.5x9 I think you'd greatly help yourself in the traction department.

Ya I looked and spent a great amount of time today on google and other forums. I couldnt find anything about smaller brakes. The only thing that I could find talked about running a 14" wheel, and the site it said this on said that it all depends on the wheel and shaving the caliper down. 15" is what I will have to run unfortunately. Since the car is a track only car, I am going to go ahead and go with the bigger size. I was really hoping to use the Toyo's but noone has them. Toyo said they dont know when the next production of them will even take place.
