Battery relocation in a del sol...

Default Battery relocation in a del sol...

planning on relocating my battery to the trunk in my sol. What will i need to do to make legal to run @ the track. Ive heard you need a kill switch but was wondering if that was just for "hatchback" style cars....Thanks

you do need a kill switch and you need to strap it down real good, drill holes in the trunk to strap it down, they sell a kit for it. NHRA leagal

I actually have a Moroso (NHRA legal) battery box, that I will sell for $50 plus shipping if intrested. It is used.

nhra rule book says a battery mounted anywhere but the factory location needs a cut off switch, and that the switch kills the alternator as well as the battery.

Installing a battery in the trunk in a FWD car does no good at all. Think about it, when you launch, you want all the weight in front where your power is.. You don't want all the weight shifting off the front wheels when you launch.. Just because pro stock hotrods have batterys in the trunk doesn't mean you need one too!

this is true except if it frees up room for something more important.

Can always use a smaller battery up front, but adding more uncessary weight on the back will just take traction away from the front wheels, where you need traction the most.
