Default Alternator help!!!

Anyone out there who is running a prelude motor with a stand alone engine managtement system, how did you wire in the alternator. Tonight at the track I just fried my 2nd alternator. This one lasted 3 runs. So i am not wiring this thing correctly. I am not using any of the orginal wire harness, and I dont have one so i am kind of in the dark where the wires should go. I have looked at the Helms and I thought I had it wired up right, but apparently not. Anyone have any ideas.

I havnt done it on a prelude motor, but id assume its the same a b series stuff? All you need is the ign. signal wire to get a + (its usually a black and yellow wire) and then just the thick power cable to the battery and thats it. Maybe you have something else going on in there that frying it?
