96 ls????
im thinking of going with this set up. but since its the first engine im going to build i wanted to ask u guys first! im thinking b18b bottom block, b18 crank, b18 rods, type r pistons, and gsr head??? im thinking of getting around 12.5:1 comp ratio. or of going with about the same set up but with b20 block, b20 crank & rods! what do you guys think??? will i be able to use 91 octane because i herd that after 12.0:1 ratio i need racing fuel, is that true???? i have a stock ls with 2G's to spend, i want to make it fast, i had recently owned a 97 trans am, i was running high 13s and now with stock ls, i feel super slow, so what do you guyz think i should do???

i did not read anywhere that you wanted to stay all motor, it looks like you do...boost is cheaper and more reliable (given you do not push it to much) you can find a "kit" for around 2000 to give you alot of power to break into the 11's on the stock motor...
i ran 12.5:1 motor on 94 octane and it was good you just have to be conservitive..

on boost it would not help much
but just to bolt it on to get more power, yes it would run better, to do so you are going to need a good bit of stuff such as oil to the head, new ecu.. and all the gsr top end stuff. Then after all of that it is not safe to rev to 8000 rpm in a short time you will stretch a rod bolt resulting in a spun rod bearing, the gsr crank has a smaller stroke and the rod to stroke ratio is better and the gsr rod bolt are bigger (9mm instead of 8mm(ls)) so if you wanted to do that then spin it to 8k i would recomend arp rod bolts its a must...
(20-30 whp gain)
hope this helps point you in the right direction i dont know this from what people said ive learned the hard way....i started all motor spend 3k then everything broke then went boost and loved it. ask someone local to take you for a ride in there 300whp civic.....

You can make it happen on 2k. If you did all the work your self...
If it was me, I would buy some CP 12-1 pistons, get some Eagle rods and a set of ACL bearings. Bore the block a half. mil over. Buy a VTEC head and if you have some change left over, at least get your self a set of springs and retainers for your cycl. head.

ok cause im gettinga b18c1 bottom block bored 81.5mm and it custom rods, and 11.5 comp wiseco pistons, im also getting a rebuilt gsr head! i was thinking of going turbo in the future!
