i remember back in like 03-04 up in philly street racing your car on holstien and 61st in your red turbo hatch, i had the black turbo ek hatch with the bronze grids. so young and so stupid. **** was fun though. i would be scared to go up there these days. i too any getting ready to take advantage of e-85 on my new all motor setup.

what octane is this stuff?100 to 105 octane...how do you check the octane?will a diffent batch of e85 (less octane) make that much differance in your tune...i know that the octane is not goverment regulated,so with that being said is E 85 safe???

e85 is 105 octane and its safe as long as its e85.if its changed then you could have a big issue.im just going to buy a drum for the season so i now its the right mixture.but ill tell you what it still bets race gas prices for those that can use it.

How are you going to store the drum, I have heard that it takes in water?

i would imagine you can also measure the specific gravity as well? with floats and flasks ?

Pretty cool gauge, another question. Can you use a regular fuel drum like a VP drum, I know that there are certain metals that dont mix well with E85.

We keep our E85 in a VP 55 gallon drum. I try to keep the drum in the least damp spot so that it doesnt collect moisture. Seems to work just fine.

ya a vp drum works great dif in a dry enough place.i can get it in a drum from a fuel supplier so the drum it comes in should be alright to store

thanks for the info.the best thing would be to just buy a drum since the E85 is between 100 oct. to 105 oct. this way you would be running the same gas,but how long does it last or what is the self life of E85???

im in the process of switching to e85 and the more i read the more i like its 2.45 here and its going to be stupid.

15psi stock ls and more timing should net me a few more useless tqs and hps
15psi now on pump 286whp and 268 wtq. in a 1800lb car is no fun.

I need to get one of those content testers, the station next to my house guarantees me its E85 all year around but I dont want to trust him. When I asked him he said it comes as E98 and all they do is add the same amount of 93 octane to the tank every time. I would like to be present one time to witness this.

I was just informed that Conserv Fuel in Brentwood (Near UCLA) now sells e85 at $2.97 a gallon. Yeah I know not super cheap, but I put in 91 octane yesterday at a local Chevron at $3.21 a gallon, so that's close to a quarter at gallon.

With more competition the price will drop and with Cellulose e85 becoming widely available soon and even cleaner burning than e85.

I might dump some on top of the 91 I have now just to see what happens....

yea its that one, I live under 1 mile from there. I wonder if there is a way to get a drum full out of the truck to take home
