What is the weight penalty for the auto and aftermarket trannies?

I don't think the Hondas will get below 2000lbs unless someone builds a purpose built tube chassis for this class. How many do you expect to do that? One? So lets say the Hondas figure out how to get down to 8.0-8.20 on a regular basis.

What did Gary weigh last year? Now he can weigh 2000-2100 depending on the trans penalty. Hello 7.50s @ 185.

Splitting these classes and making these new rules is the largest mistake you guys could make....in my humble opinion.

Gary's car will weigh around 2200 pounds, just like he did last season.

One car is already done and weighs 1760 pounds with driver and H-Series motor and trans. Yes it is purpose built, but according to the owner, it was cheaper to build than the conventional Pro 4 car of years past. In fact, he and one other shop are looking to produce and sell the rolling chassis for this class. Full tube or 3/4 tube chassis.

We've heard that before. Lets not talk about "production" fwd chassis until someone steps up and does it. Any pics of the car you're talking about?

Could'nt compete? He beat Papadakis, Rado, and Kubo in the same year and won the Championship.

Don't say he could not compete because of the car. Say that he chose to build the car the way it was in hopes of being able to put them in production. He had no aspirations of building a Outlaw car to compete with all the FWD cars that had changed motor mounting configuration and Fortin Trannies. He was chasing a long term goal with his company not the Championship, he was just lucky and good enough to be consistant.

Tony, why would you even say something like that about someone? I thought you were better than that.

Winning some races in Pro FWD in the past few years doesn't mean you have a successfull car in my opinion. There have been plenty of events that a turbo 4 car could've won in that class. When you're running quicker than the class below you is when you're heading in the right direction. All i'm getting at is that you make it seem like this car was just built for this new class, when in reality it's been sitting because it wasn't competetive in pro fwd and was going to be turned into an all motor car. You're trying to turn this around into something it's not...

Don't even pull that I though you were better than that ****.

The car actually is being purpose built. There are a few things that they had to change to get the car back up and running for the 2006 season to compete in this class.
I will get pics from them on just the chassis as soon as they can supply pics with any changes they have made. I understand what you are saying about a true purpose built car, but he is wanting to build rolling chassis that a racer can buy inexpensive, and go race in this class, or a bracket class, or a Comp class. He just chose to build it with a Civic body instead of a Camaro or something domestic.
He is looking to be able to sell the car to anyone wanting a tube chassis car.

I had to take a jab at you while I could, it is so rare that you screw up or say something cross.

Shep says there is no way a DSM can get that light, but he is working his magic on his car.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by NDRATECH &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> Shep says there is no way a DSM can get that light, but he is working his magic on his car. </TD></TR></TABLE>

all tube chassis can be done from 2600 to 1900 if he takes that weight off there is no way a FWD will be competitive at the same weight Gary gardella has to weight 2150 and he as a FWD

Here is a picture of a 1750 lb. car and a 2300 lb car. One runs inconsistent high 8s and breaks and the other is a 7 second bracket car that WILL go faster.

How many people interested in racing in this market can drop $80,000+ all at once on a turn-key setup that is NOT prepared to be competitive? This market isn't where the domestic market is. Its a younger demographic and people DO NOT have the money to shell that cash out all at once. A majority of your racers build these over the course of a few years from the old paid off car they have in their garage.

I'm not taking jabs, but those are the facts.

Well Luke, the class is what it is. It is there for the guys who want to try and run 7.xx, or continue to run 7.xx.
The guy who does not have that kind of money will run in the Pro 4 class. I guess I have not explained myself very well, but Pro 4 and the Pro GT/Pro Mods classes are two seperate classes. We are not forcing anyone to run this class, it is for those who want to join the FWD 7sec. club.

I wish I had a small portion of the money that everyone thinks that the GM teams are recieving. Remember this, Bryan J. is close to 80k in his Cobalt already, not like GM has an open checkbook for all the GM racers. I am pretty sure that if these teams were completely sponsored by GM they would have the same graphics Marty's Cobalt had.

Speaking of Marty, his Sunfire will more than likely run in this class so add another car to the class.

I remeber reading in the magazine that John and crew had about 100k in building there tube car the way it sat. Thats a pretty pricey deal. It would be cool if they offerd something rolling, but its still gonna be waaaaay more money they buying a $500 chassis and putting a cage in the car after u hang all the parts.

They may of had 100k in the original design, development, body and everything. Since he owns the Jigs, Molds and what not, he is looking at around 20-50k for a roller depending on the options and components.

as far as the name goes I kinda like the idea of "Pro FWD" and the other class would be "Pro OutlawFWD"

"Pro Mod' is fine

P.S also if you could make John shep haul a trailer with is car while he runs that would help alot Thanks Glen you the man

As a fan i think this class is a good idea, it lets the slower cars come out of hibernation and be competetive in p4 and doesn't punish the racers who are trying to run 7's. I still hope that kenny, joe d, jj, chuck, and others continue to try to be competetive with gm.
