For the interior, no vacuum works better than one at the do-it-your-self car wash, but if you don’t have access to one, start by shaking out all removable rugs and mats. Vacuum those outside the car and then move in to get what remins. Check our the auto store for cleansers to wash the dash and interior. Like the no-no on the dish soap, you’ll want to find something that works best on your specific interior. Be sure to read all labels and follow instructions exactly. Remember that the better you care for your car, the better you’ll feel driving it, and your resale value will be tremendously higher if you pay attention to cleaning.

you can use any gel product from whomever you prefer...but smartgel is what i would do.
everyone has there own preference.

DETAILING TIP OF THE WEEK: how to correctly use a microfiber towel.

1- evenly spray smartdetail across your surface.
2-wait a sec for the formula to work
3 & 4- folding the towel in four, wipe side to side moving down in one direction.
5- turn tow...el around to avoid the captured dirt to scratch your surface.
6- wipe gently side to side for a silky shine finish (7)!

I think this guy is just trying to promote his products...
When FULLY detailing the exterior of your car
- wash with a two bucket method
- Clay bar with ONR lube (or something like that)
- Polish (glaze is typically what dealerships use on their details because some glazes have fillers to hide the swirls and scratches better)
- Glaze (that has very little fillers for a deeper and wetter look)
- Wipe with IPA 50/50 mix to remove all oils from polishes
- Sealant (I like using BFWD, but there are other good ones out there)
- Wax (instead of sealing, but some products allow you to top off your sealant with a wax)

A true detailer will NEVER let the edges (seems) of a MF towel touch the paint that he spent 20+ hours on just polishing for that towel to mar the surace again... and never use a lot of pressure while doing that

Okay, so my car, mainly my hood, is loaded with swirl marks..

I have some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound but that did nothing.. When I resprayed my rear bumper and sanded the orange peel with 2000 grit, that **** took it to a perfect gloss!!

So what's my next option? Isn't Honda's crappy paint single stage with the clear coat mixed in? How much clear coat do I really have to work with? And what's the best way to take it down to showroom fresh?

I know how to wash my car but the swirl marks were pre-existing..

PS - What do you guys do about front end marred finishes? Seems my whole front bumper is just tarnished from debris over the 10 years its been alive.. Respray my only option? I sprayed my front CTR lip myself and after a week it was all battered up.. I need a much more durable paint or 10 coats of clear coat?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Well Keenor, I would have to see what your talking about as far as the front end marring... As with the Meguiars ultimate compound are you using a polisher or by hand?

I've tried with a cheap orbital buffer and by hand.. Nothing, maybe I need a proper polisher? But that would scoop hundreds from my pocket, no?

i work at a mercedes benz/porsche dealership doing detail, and we have a good method of getting water spots off of windows. take some wax [we buy a wax from P&S called ultracoat polish (its pink)] and put it on a small piece of steel wool and rub the window. do not use steel wool on anything that is not a window on a car imo. except maybe mufflers...

Not too sure if I can get on board with that procedure

well today i got a brand new GT3RS ready for the showroom and it was covered in light water spots. for the windows all it took was some steel wool and glass cleaner but for heavier water spots i always use the wax and steel wool. you dont have to get on board. but my boat is pretty cool

Seems like everytime this "SMARTWAX" ht member uses the phrase "____" he's throwing his product name out there without actually saying it. Sigh.

KLEENOR.. Sorry i haven't posted in awhile, been really busy! I would recommend getting a PC7424XP if you want to get more into detailing. But if you don't feel like spending $150 than go to a local detailer and have them do it for about the same price. If you need to use a compound make sure you use a finer polish after and finish it down.
