Detail Gurus please help
I have a Nardi/Personal trophy leather wheel. It's only about 2yrs old now and I condition it weekly when I clean my car. Except in the winter months because it get's parked. All the leather and grain look good except around the 7-8 O clock position and I don't even hold it there. Best way I can describe it is flakey I guess. If you know of any way to remove or repair this please help me out. Thanks,Adam

Just use the Meguiars leather wipes on it. I believe they are a cleaner and conditioning wipe. I'd have to go look at the container to be 100%.

That could be an issue, I know using shampoo and conditioner in one too much will still leave build up, so in that vein use some simple soap and water on a towel with a few applications don't scrub and I'd say be gentle bc im sure that leather isn't too thick.
Then use some separate leather conditioner and maybe a sun shield to protect the wheel if it gets a lot of sun exposure

honestly...i'd just get Optimum Leather Protectant and apply it multiple times. it will be impossible to replace the coating on the leather that has been damaged, but you will be able to condition what is there, condition the substrate and possibly help keep it from getting worse.
heat it up a little bit with a hair dryer...a LITTLE BIT...to expand the pores, apply the product liberally, let it soak, buff lightly and see what you think. i'd probably end up doing it a few times.
i like a cotton foamed applicator for the application and buffing part.
his Leather Protectant offers fantastic conditioning and UV protection.

Re: Detail Gurus please help
builthatch I just ordered a bottle from autogeek so I will let you know what happens. Thanks for the tip. Question should I clean the wheel with warm soap and water first to remove any old conditioner and build up?

haha wish I would of seen the post before going and ordering from autogeek. They only have a 17oz bottle and with shipping it was like $19. That link has a 4oz for $4. damn oh well if it works good I'll have plenty extra.
For the other poster. It's Meguiars gold class rich leather cleaning and conditioning wipes.

you'll find a way to use it
re: your question about cleaning it first...personally, i'd use a 10:1 solution of Optimum Powerclean but it's not reasonable to expect you to do that. I know people use a highly diluted solution of woolite/water to clean leather, maybe try that first. I don't know if that would be enough to emulsify whatever is on there. You won't hurt anything with a few applications of the Optimum stuff on top of what you have already done but i'm not sure if it will interfere with the results.

Re: Detail Gurus please help
I'll post a little update for you all. I went out on a limb after doing a little searching on the net. I found someone who had a fading problem on the steering wheel of their Porsche carrera S and posted their experience with this trick. I just went and purchased some kiwi liquid black leather dye from walmart for $5. Took some 1200 grit sandpaper and sanded down the rough spot on the wheel. "they didn't do that part since they only had fading" It still has the tiger stripe appearance but when going both directions I can't feel all the little pieces sticking up as I did before going against the grain. Wiped the foam applicator over the area and let it dry. It filled the greyish areas in between the cracks and now it looks black again. Once it sits for a few days and my order from autogeek gets here I'll apply that product and see where I'm standing. Even at this point I'd be ok with it so hopefully it will fill in some of the cracks "like it claims" and I'll be even happier with the outcome.
It's even kinda hard to capture in a picture now.
