My subaru had a scratch on the rear quarter panel so i decided to try waxing it out.

I went and bought a mother's powerball (yellow one) and used the included mothers fx syn wax on the scratch and heres the results:



Its about a 2" x 2" area. What happened here?

Holy cow. I bought the yellow power ball to use on my cf hood with no problems.. You used too high of a speed, too much pressure or both. Thats gotta get repainted. Theres NO cheap way of fixing that. The power ball is a sponge, so its not abrasive but the heat from the friction of the power ball spinning on the paint just burned through your clear and paint.

that wax was too aggresive looks like u sanded it down

Yeah i know i messed up. Damn thin *** subaru paint. I did the same procedure i do on my civic which is to apply the wax by hand and then remove it with the powerball.

Anyone know where i can get this touched up for cheap??

paint is proably so much for that paint because of the pearl
touch up woudl look like **** though

That's a real bummer what happened, and unfortunately sometimes mistakes are expensive.

For what it's worth, the PowerBall 4Paint is for applying wax only -- you should remove wax by hand with a microfiber or cotton terry towel. This is true with any polisher or buffer; even if the instructions say otherwise. It's best not to let the polish/wax dry so long that it's hard to remove.

Try a Paintless Dent Removal place -- they often do touch-up painting.

I'm just going to guess you pressed really hard, because FX has no harsh abrasives or polishes -- it's not like a traditional cleaner wax. In fact, I've let it dry for over an hour in the hot sun and it was still really easy to remove with a microfiber towel.

that burned right through. touch up would look bad, it is going to have to be blended.

How did you do that with WAX?! It's completely non-abrasive, unless you used a crazy compound.
