Default Acid Rain Damage - Complete Repair!

I had the 'pleasure' of knocking out some horrible paint damage on a car this week. This is the worst acid rain damage I've ever seen. It stopped my thumbnail in several areas like a heavy scratch. Even the glass was heavily etched. It was an '09 HHR w/ 14k miles. Excuse all the cell phone pics but I think it still shows a very obvious progression.

I both attacked it with my Makita rotary buffer and yellow synthetic wool pads. 3M's rubbing compound was put to the test on this one. Its very aggressive at 1600-1700 rpm and moderate pressure. The pics speak for themselves.

After a machine polish and swirl remober:

It took better than 3 hours to get it that good on 98.5% of the car. There were just some spots that were too stubborn to come completely clean without wetsanding - My job was to save it from the paint booth so mission complete! 3M FTW!!!

Comments welcome

What do you recommend for acid rain on windows? I've been told that vinegar works but it did nothing at all.

Use 000 Steel Wool and a liquid glass cleaner or mild soapy water. If all else fails, tape up your window edge mouldings and buff them off.
