Default Who's scamming me!!!

I bought a fully built block from someone on this site. I took it to a machine shop to have them replace the main seal and replace the bearings and check for any hidden problems. They came back with a $1500 price list without pistions. They said the sleeves have deep scratches from not being broken in properly, one of the bearings was spun, and they would have to do some work on the rods and crank because of the spun bearing. The flywheel needs a new surface insert, (can't find anywhere). When I picked up the motor I was told about the flywheel and the main seal needing to be replaced. The sleeve walls did not look bad.

I have not taken alot of motors apart. Can someone tell me by looking at the pics if this is normal wear or will the rods need grinding? Is the machine shop trying to scam me? To get the motor completly built it will cost about $2000 on top of what I bought the block for. Is 3K worth it for a fully built block (new oil pump, pistons, water pump, balanced, resurfaced rods/crank, and bore to 82mm)

Here's the pictures if it works.

I was thinking that. The guy said if it didn't start he would refund my money, but I have another block with a cracked sleeved. It will probably cost me the same to build it. I would need new rods, pistion ect..

Who was it so I can make a self note note to deal with people like that.

I only have one person on my list from H-T who sold me some rods and pistons and say it was in good condition only 1000miles.

Turns out I got screwed the parts were fucked up, but at least I got most of my money back - paypal, shipping to me and shipping back.

It's TURBO4drTypeR, I'm going to talk to him see if we can work something out. I meet him in person he seemed pretty cool, he said he bought it from a friend and had it installed for a short time. Took it out to change the main seal and flywheel.

I read the other post and it seemed like a great deal but he did list that is was still in great condition. But with 1500 worth of work needing to be done I'm not so sure.

Hey the pics aren't working for me, but may I ask if the block is an Ls, and this may be a long shot but is it pianted red? Reason I ask is last year when i blew my b20 vtec, I replaced it with a fully built(Jg block) Ls, I bought it from a guy @ a well known shop in Arlington. From what i remember It has Arias pistons(that were slapping like a ****), Crower Rods, and I believe Jg sleeved(old school block)

anywas Im local and my gsr was stolen about a year and a half ago, they left the motor alone, but I know the car was purchased at an auction. The motor was already blown, but when my car was stolen it had no coolant watsoever, so there was definetely more damage doen to it. I know it's a longshot, but contact me by pm, because I know a fucked up built block is floating aroudn somewhere that came from my Gsr. Hit me up on pm and we'll talk. It was an Ls block btw.

This reminds me of my deal with pistons and rods. Same ****.

Seller says it's in good condition and I lost money. thank goodness it was not much but I still lost.

The thing that we have to look at here is what does "Good condition mean"

If a set of pistons for example says it's in good condition then the only thing I would expect is some carbon build up and light scratches on the skirts. No big *** gouges or sandy piston tops which feels like 60 grit sandpaper.

I was awefully pissed when this happened to me, and the only thing I got from the other guy was "Oh I'm sorry that your not happy with parts the only thing I can do is refund some money back to you" think about this what the **** am I going to do with some fucked pistons???? I lost money on the shipping to me, paypal, shipping back to seller and then paypal again.

Final note: if you know that your parts are fucked up then take your lose and don't screw other people. Just tell the truth............

Hope you two get it fixed.

Man that really sucks, I don't think I'm going to end up going thru all that mess. There was no shipping cause I drove down there to pick it up, I meet the guy he is pretty cool, I'm not sure if he knew it was messed up or not but either way he is willing to work things out.
The main reason I posted this wasn't to acuse him of scamming me, unless he wasn't willing to work something out. I'm not fimilar with the internals and wanted to be sure that this was not normal wear before I acused him of saleing me a bad block.
Thanks for yall's two cents, I will post an update letting you all know if I think he is still a good person to buy from.
