Z600 Coupe
Hey all I've been a Honda owner for all my life. I had a RHD Civic Type R 10 years ago but have since been taking it easy and got out of the car scene.
But now I'm back with my 1972 Honda 600 Coupe.
Follow along and watch this car come back to life. I found this car in Portland, OR from a guy who bought it in december from the original owner. It has been in dry indoor storage since 1980 and hasn't seen the road since.
It has all original paint currently and is very clean. Its currently at a micro car specialty shop being worked on before coming back to Milwaukee to begin its new life.
you can see a video of the car here

ill also post some pictures of the progress as well

Re: Z600 Coupe
i think i have an addiction, in the last month I've purchased 2 more z600 coupes. a blue one I'm going to use for some interior parts, and just yesterday another green one (pictured below) I'm hoping i can get a hood and fender from the green one without doing body work to keep my original purchase an all original restoration.
Between all 3 ill have one nice all original Z600 and who knows maybe ill be able to make another matching green Z600 for a 71/72 set
heres some pics of the recent purchases , i haven't actually seen any in person yet as i found them all online and just bought them sight unseen and had them shipped to my home.

Re: Z600 Coupe
i was able to get my Z600 on the road for about 100 miles a few weeks ago. was absolutely amazing but it didn't last long. the block and head threads for the cooling fan ripped out beyond repair unless welded so i had a spare head and block i had sent out to be freshened up. I've decided that since its this far apart now I'm gonna strip the entire chassis down and sandblast and paint everything so the entire underside is as new looking as possible. I'm planning on keeping it all original body paint.
the first picture is the first time it was on the road since 1981 and i took it to my friends for a proper bath
Also some engine pictures disassembled
some pictures of the progress and restoration hardware I've been picking up
i picked up a great used muffler and tail pipe that is in amazing shape and will sandblast and refinish like new!!
also some pictures of the newly finished head

Re: Z600 Coupe
Heres an update on the Z600.
The engine got rebuilt over the summer and is running pretty well, it still needs a little tuning to get all the power from the 36hp engine.
I rebuilt the entire rear end. I had everything sandblasted and powder coated and it looks like new. All new brakes, wheel cylinders and rear shocks.
I also pressure washed the entire engine bay, wheel wells and under carriage. 30 years of dust and grime to wash away. I had the entire underside undercoated while all the suspension was removed.
The exhaust system all the way from the header to the tail pipe has been ceramic coated, all of the front suspension items were powder coated along with the subframe. looks like new.
Ive also installed new carpet in the front of the car but left the original stuff in the rear because its still in ok shape. will most likely replace it before spring though.
don't have much time to work on it currently but its being kept warm and dry.

Re: Z600 Coupe
Between these sites you should pretty much be able to find everything you need. I also have a large stockpile or parts feel free to email me and ill help you out with any questions.
http://www.honda600shop.com/index.php. - mike oconnor runs this site and has more than what's actually listed. He did the machine work on my engine turned out amazing.
http://www.honda600carparts.com/. The person who runs this site is Bruce I've purchased many parts from him and have been very pleased!! Some stuff is a little pricey, if you have any questions on his parts or prices let me know and I can tell u if its available elsewhere for a better deal. But all in all it's a great one stop shop for picking up just about everything you need to rebuild your car. And best part is its free shipping on everything!!
Z600miles@comcast.net - miles is an amazing guy and has been working on these cars for decades. He's super friendly and has no problem handing out his phone number and will talk to you over the phone if you get stuck on a project. He also has many parts and also lists on eBay on his store. He has a stockpile way larger than what he has listed just ask and if he doesn't have it will point you in the right direction.
There are also 2 Honda 600 groups on yahoo.com they are full of owners who and help troubleshoot and give advise. The backlog of questions and posts is amazing and will help you with just about any issue that arrises. i personally like the "2cylinder" one better than the "anz" page.
Also ray cave on eBay has thousands of used parts for sale
I have a lot of free time at my job and am constantly doing research and surfing the web for any and all Honda 600 info. I can probably lead you to just about any part your looking for. If you have any questions feel free to email me at egeiger@prgnocturne.com I'm all about keeping these cars on the road and getting the ones that aren't on the road back there. It's a passion I just recently discovered but have learned a lot in a short period of time.

Re: Z600 Coupe
I just got back a batch of engine bay parts that I had re-plated with zinc and yellow dichromate. I've posted a "before" picture of the engine bay when i first got the car and also some pictures of the parts when they came back from the plating company and I was sorting them. The last pictures are of all the parts installed
