Default Rpm Problems

Ive got an 83 civic and when it starts up it revs up to about 4 grand.the accelerator isnt stuck.the carb just moves by itself.i have to hold the accelerator back to keep it from moving.Someone told me it could be a vaccum line.Have you ever heard of this happening before.

yes... in addition there is an idle or air fuel adjustment screw to bring down the idle if your car constantly is rpm'ing high.

if your car is stuck in choke mode, try and blip the throttle a time or two to release the choke. Also if its not cold or has not been sitting, do not prime the carbs by stepping on the gas prior to starting the car..;. this sets the choke to on position
