Multiple distributor failures
My daughter has a 1991 Civic awd wagon, 1.6. it has lots of miles on it but it still runs well. It died due to no spark about a month ago. The shop diagnosed the problem after about 5 hours as a bad distributor. They put a reman in and it worked for only about 15 minutes and then it died too. 2nd reman in and they said it was good to go. 3 days later, same problem, and the 3rd distributor was installed. Again the problem is fixed. Now, about 3weeks later it has died again and is back in the shop.
so, either we are just getting a bad run of distributors, or the shop buys junk, which I find hard to believe since they get their parts from NAPA and O'Rielley.
so, my question is, could there be something else that is eating the replacement distributors? anybody got an idea?
thanks

5hrs to diagnose a bad distributor, may be time for a visit at the dealership as it seems like something is cooking your distributor, so the current shop has not made the right diagnostic.
The first thing is to make sure you have good grounds, poor grounds tend to fry ECM.
Making sure that the inside seal is tight so no oil is leaking inside the distributor.
