Hey everyone, '84 civic
Hey everyone, im new here and basically new to Hondas. I love classic cars and ran into a 1984 Civic wagon up for sale and i would love to pick it up this week. Problem is it needs a fuel pump and it does not have a stock engine. It was swapped with a d16a1zc. I was wondering how hard would it be to change the fuel pump, can i do it at the guys place? Also, how reliable is this engine compared to the actual stock one ? Forgot to mention it is also Carb. I looked online for pics of other '84 wagons to get an idea of what i can do with it but no luck.

Larger Torsion bars, remove the keyway to lower front. Cut springs in rear to lower rear.
The stock one would either be a carbed 1.3L or a carbed 1.5L, depending on trim model. More power out of the D16a1, but as far as it being carbed, I don't know how much better it's gonna be since it's a FI computer engine.
Fuel pump on the Stock engine:
With the D16a1 being originally a FI engine, then it would normally have a higher pressure inline or in tank fuel pump, probably from an Integra or Civic Si.

Welcome, I love the wagons. Hope it works out for you.
Pretty simple considering it's in the engine bay, unless they relocated it when doing the engine swap. How do you know it's the pump though. They might not know what they're talking about. I'd verify that's the problem before buying. Good luck!

It actually has dual webber carbs. One carb for two cylinders, one barrel per cylinder. Would be a bitch to tune, but worth it once the carbs are in sync. Kind of like an ITB setup.
For the $900 it would be worth it.

The $900 would make me question the vehicle's dependability. The ad sounds like they haven't had it long. Maybe they got it and discovered something major wrong with it. Or maybe they just don't know how simple a fuel pump is to replace. Either way, I'd check it over good. Take a good look at the oil, and other fluids. Maybe even pop off the valve cover, and see what she looks like in there.

THat's just it, the poster (of the CL ad) doesn't know what anything is. I knew from the "D16a1ZC" and then converted it to carb.
But the dual Webbers alone would be worth the $900.........
