has anyone seen or done a 1978 civic b series swap?
well here i am breaking my head for my Friend because he wants to do this swap, and he asked me for help, i have done swaps before but never on a 1978 civic im not really worried about the electrical but i am about the motor mounts fabrication and the axle fitment, is the 1988 crx parts interchangeable such as the hubs. but anyways to make a long story short any information such as motor mount fabrication or how to's will be appreciated thanks.

Re: (Nerologic)
ive seen a 88-05 Style dseries swap and it was a tight fit, bseries would be a hella tight fit
it was a SOHC Vtec and they had to use a aftermarket intake mani cuz the factory one would hit the firewall, so i dont think theres a possible way to get a DOHC head in there without some cutting and bending

I've seen it done before it was also a white civic but I don't remember the year. It had some crazy built to the hilt ls/vtec in it. Its on the net somewhere just have to search.....

Re: (beyondspecs_jamar)
I used to own a '75 with a D16. It fit pretty well. The only problem was with the custom axles. The driver side was much longer than the passenger side. So, under acceleration the car had major torque steer, pulling to the right. It also had a lowered suspension, which rode like crap.
If you're hellbent on a swap, the D-series is probably your best bet. That's already double the original HP.

Since we're talking about fitment, what will fit in my Honda n600? Think I can squeeze a d-series in there?

Re: has anyone seen or done a 1978 civic b series swap?
Im bringing this back up because im also interested and since its been 3 years since this post I figured someone has done it and they're mounts for it now...
Anyone have any info??
I went to 1st gen civic.com but that sight seems useless to me...alot of people beating around the bush..
I want to know:
-Can you put a b-series in it
-Who makes the mounts, shift linkage,wiring...etc parts for the swap?
-how much fab?
-Rough budget estimate if i have the swap already and the car already..??
Any help or Prior experience would be great. Thanks HT

It's an air cooled 2 banger so it'd be hard to get sufficient cooling to the radiator if you did swap it. See if you can fab up a 1st gen Accord engine in there. Keep it oldschool.
