EW1-HF Main/Rod Bearing Size Issues
I have a 1986 HF model with an EW1. I am in the process of re-building the motor to stock for a fuel efficiency daily driver, but I'm at a road block. The main bearings and rod bearings on my block are a different size than what they should be for this model. I realized this after the first re-build kit I bought and the bearings were a completely different size. The journal diameters for my crankshaft are 1.653 for the mains, and 1.496 for the rods. However, everything I've found on the internet says the mains should be 1.771 and the rods 1.653.
I've searched the web and found one other person that had this issue but couldn't find an answer. Also, when I search for parts/bearings for the 86 HF, the D15A2 comes up. Seems to be a lot of confusion for this engine/year.
Has anyone ran into this problem with the journal diameters? What are my options, besides using the old bearings?

Re: EW1-HF Main/Rod Bearing Size Issues
I thought the HF had a 1.3 liter engine. Isn't the EW1 a 1.5 liter? I feel like your car may not have it's original engine in it. I feel like your car should have an EV engine in it, and not and EW. But I could be way off on that, since I'm not super knowledgeable about the CRXs. Does the engine stamp on the chassis match the engine in the car?
Lotta confusion around engine codes around 86. In 86 Honda changed how they did their engine designations, even though they were pretty much identical. The EW1 did become some sort of D15 engine. Similar to how the Accords went from having the BS and BT motors, but changed designation to A20A1 and A20A3 respectively.

I just measured the bore, stroke, and did the calculations and it is a 1.5L. Does anyone know what the difference between the EW*'s are? I have heard that the EW1 is California specific for emissions and the EW2 is Canadian. I don't know about the EW3 and EW4. Is this true, and what are the differences?
