why does your stock braking system not cut it? you're not going to magically fix it with rear discs!!

So if I had an 88 hatch I would be in? 88 is the same as 89: all 4th gens. How is an 88 hatch base model different then an 89?

With an easy upgrade, my rear drums out perform disc brakes and are lighter in weight. Do some research. Aluminum drums, stainless lines and track shoes.

Disc brakes just look better (in some peoples eyes) and you can replace the parts (pads/rotors) faster, nothing else.

Besides, your in the wrong fourm about this problem anyways bud.

nope. PRE 88. not 88. which mean no EFs. but to answer your question, your OEM brakes are fine. your not going to go fast enough to even use rear discs. its a luxery not a necessity. remember, its a Honda Civic, not a Lambo.

oh please ye with 4 posts tell ME what i do not know.. oh that's right, you can't even post in the right FORUM...

considering the fact that for the most part the rear brakes on a honda slow about 20% of the car, how in the world could they REALLY help? i've DONE disc brakes in the rear of my cars. i KNOW exactly what they do and what they CAN help.

are you tracking your car or just doing MaDD TYte PIMPE Mountain runs YOO!!!??

please go to the EF forum. that is where you need to be. they have all the answers for you. don't be mad that we tell you like it is here..

i would really like to know why you think you need rear discs..
the only thing that disc brakes MAY help you with is pedal modulation and ease of parts replacement. oh yeah, they look better too.

Umm I need discs because drums are old technology; they heat up too fast. Discs are easier to wok on. If drums are so good, why did they stop using them? All the tuners I know laugh at them. I'm a long time rotary mazda guy, I gave up on them because there too expensive. My Dseries would smoke my second gen. My Dseries is pretty quick and alot of snobs with audi A-4's, austin mini's get smoked by my hatch. I dunno, maybee because I can drive. Maybee because I listen to real tuners and not the snobs..

real "tuners" eh? ok. sure thing buddy.. maybe if you actually listen to people who actually RACE there cars instead of just build them..

so it took you 15 days to come back with that?? great.

oh yeah, if you hadn't noticed, plenty of cars come with drums still. they are most definitely still used.

1. Drop the attitude dude.
2. Brake drums can preform just as well as disc, you just need better parts, maybe the user above would be more than willing to help you out getting the right parts.
3. If your having an issue slowing down properly, or at least thats what you think, downshifting is a great way to aid in the assistance of braking.

and as a matter of fact, alot of newer cars STILL come with rear drums....

biggest issues i have is:

attitude
the fact that if he looked in the proper forum this is all in the FAQ
if he used the search button he'd find at least 50 threads on this topic
just admit he likes the look. that's fine. i like the look. i have discs on my 86. my 91 daily driver? no need whatsoever. heck, no need on a lot of cars that actually see plenty of track time.

if he doesn't want to listen, that's fine. i really don't care. but don't try to spread "knowledge" that isn't true. especially to people who already have the correct knowledge and try to dispense it.
