Default 87 accord 5-spd

wat's up. noob here.
so let me first say that i have searched for the issues i'm having.

well i have an 87 accord lxi 5-spd.
and it seems to be stuck in second gear.
i cant get it out of gear at all.
the clutch releases and engages but it makes no difference.

someone told me that the tranny is out.

someone else told me that there's something called an lock pin. i tried to look for this is in my manual but cant find it.

so if there's such a thing of the pin does anyone know where it's located.
also what other 5-spd tranny's is compatible with the 87 accord?

thanks in advance

If you can't get it out of gear with the engine turned off, then the shift forks and/or gear selector mechanism are somehow locked up internally - in which case you should just swap in a used transmission from a salvage yard. Compatible Accords are '86-89.

No idea what "lock pin" they may be talking about.

thanks!! i think they got the lock pin idea mixed up with the integra.
i did do some search and there's one post where the person said that you can use a 94-97 prelude 5spd. the only thing thats different is the prelude has shorter gears is this possible?

No you can't use a 94-97 Prelude transmission. You can use an 84-87 Prelude Si transmission. Not the A18 transmission.

Okay yeah, just to be clear, the dual-carb transmissions won't work. Maybe the later year models will, but I can't guaranatee it, so best to stick with an Si trans.
