83 civic hydrogen fuel "cell"
I have a friend with an 83 civic and they bought a hydrogen fuel cell but she doesnt have the accordion intake tube. its just open after the snail carburetor and i told her she could drill a hole in that but wanted to check with ppl who knew what to do. would this be advisable? what would be the best thing to do in this situation? thanks

What do you mean a Hydrogen Fuel cell? Those cost quite a bit, might be kind of a waste on an 83 Civic. Do you mean one of those HHO generators? If so, the best thing to do in this situation would be to send it back.

its not mine. its a friend. and she was wanting to install it. and she cant send it back cuz she bought it a while back. so BESIDES that..... what would be best in this situation??

Well then your best bet would bet to put it into the air filter lid inside the filter probably. Just so you know, it won't do anything. Might make the car run bad without proper tuning on the carburetor.

Okay, so assuming that the whole HHO debacle isn't a crock of crap (which I think it is), you're introducing a supposedly stoichiometric mixture of hydrogen and oxygen into the air intake stream.
Lets say your carburetor can flow 200CFM of air (as an example). And you're looking for the HHO to offset about 10% of your fuel. Well what's going to happen is you're going to have 180CFM of air and 20CFM of HHO flowing through the carburetor.
Now that means you've upset your air fuel ratio as the pressure from your engine is still going to pull the same amount of gasoline into the carburetor regardless, but now you've got 10% less air. So you'd need to tune the carburetor to run 10% less fuel as well. Which would typically involve rejetting.
But since I don't think it's possible to produce enough of an "HHO" mixture from one of those electrolysis devices to fuel a car while driving off of purely alternator power, I don't think that you're going to get any offset.

Rejetting will be required to get any fuel savings. Its not like you can tune the ECU to compensate for the changes here, like a modern car.

I'm saying it would not work with any cars really. I mean, do more research and some basic math and don't just listen to me. I don't know everything there is to know about it, nor have I tried it. Lots of people say it works and that they're getting amazing results. I think it's bunk, but I could be wrong...
