1987 Civic Trouble
The car is a 1.5L 12 valve 4cyl. it has 185K miles on it. It is my friend's and before i look at it tomorrow i was hoping to gather some thoughts and tips on what and how to diagnose the issue. I'm not sure about past work such as spark plugs and what not but i know the issue it has:
I have a Honda Civic 87....Yeah...87....Don't even know if it has a computer thatgives error codes, to be honest. When Istart the car, I have to give it some gasso it doesn't cut off. After I give it gas itseems to get stuck at about 2k rpm for a while. If it's cold outside, it'll climb all the way to 3k.After 2 minutes or so, if I tap the gas, the rpmwill drop to 1.5 to 1k. That's when I take off. Aftermaybe 10-20 min of driving, the RPM drops below 0.75kwhenever I come to a stop and that's when the troublestarts. Basically at that point, there's a good chance thecar will stall out anytime I come to a stop or even drivereally slowly. What could it be?
What type of Computer does the 87 civic have and what should be my first checks besides spark plugs, filter, fuel filter, wires, vacuum leak, etc. I am also going to do a compression check to see if the rings are going out on it. Does it have an egr valve? Is it carburated?
Thanks for the help and i'll keep you posted.

its carborated. what the problem could be is if your running on a low idle, or if you didnt let your car fully warm up, it has a tendency to die. also, theres a funny thing about this car and that motor. you cant run it at too low of an idle, or you will run into problems. my 87 sedan idles at .8-.9 and that is still pretty low.
