The instrument panel lights on my 86 do not work. I was hoping it was just a fuse, but I checked the fuse block and there is no separate fuse just for the instrument panel lights. Am I going to have to pull the instrument cluster out to find the problem? Or is there something else I should check first. If I do have to pull the cluster off, is that a big deal?

it's not a big deal to pull the cluster on these cars. just a few screws.

check the dimmer switch first.. if that is unplugged all the lights on the dash do not work

I figured out why the instrument panel lights are out. The dashboard lower panel (right below the steering wheel) is missing. There is supposed to be a dashlight brightness control unit mounted on that panel, and that's gone too. I found the connector that should be plugged into the control unit shoved up amongst the wires. I have no idea why the previous owner would have removed this. Anyone know of a good place on the web to get classic honda parts? Otherwise I'll be visiting the junkyard this weekend.
