1981 Accord Build Ideas
Hello everyone!
I just bought a blue 1981 Accord 5 speed, just over 144k miles. Great shape, only $700.
Drives great, starts every time. Cruises at 75+ effortlessly, gets 30+ mpg.
Love it!
Curious: has anyone put a newer Civic motor or something similar into one of these? I just think it would be great to have the reliability of fuel injection and a little more power / platform to build upon.
Any input appreciated
-Josh

Anything will fit with the right money. You're probably looking at custom work either direction you go. The most logical and cost effective swap would most likely be the B-Series.

Check out 1stGenCivic.com. There are a few hurdles with putting a new engine in. Mainly it's clearance getting the exhaust around the front crossmember, since it's so close to the engine. Also 3geez.com has a lot of 1st gen Accord owners, including myself.
