Not far from painting now! Enjoy
So here is the old update
First off here is the carb and motor..
Just to show you what work has been done...
A rim and how Sally looks now!
As you see it has been a alot of work and there is more to do. I have also done a complete brake overhaul.
So enjoy!
Hi all,
Just wanted to share what I found around the corner and to my suprise I got it!
Here are a few shots exactly the way I found it, enjoy!
I have more but I thought I would just share a few!
By the way..It had been sitting since 1995 and was a one owner car til now. I got the original keys too.

Well I have been staring at this car for about three years, Finally saw the owner and asked him about it. Yes, it was on it's way to the junkyard.
Plans are first off, to make it safe!
Tires and paint rims silver
Complete brake overhaul
Drain the gas tank
New Battery
Clean the engine bay.
Belts or should I say belt
Full flush of all fluids.
Get it on the road!!!!!!!!!
Get rid of the rust and paint (Going to keep it Rootbeer)Thus her new name.. Rootbeer Sally!
replace rubber seals
refurb the interior
Going to take her back to OG. I really like the stock look of these.
This is the first list I have started for it, what have I got myself into.
I have got her to fire with some starting fluid so the motor is good. Carb??????/
The other things I got wiht the car were another complete motor, an assembled block, two carbs and dizzys, plus alot of small parts. The guy threw them in.

I love the earlier model cars. I have two 79 CVCC's but much prefer the look of the 1200 and/or earlier model CVCC!
Awesome project! I like your plan to keep it mostly stock. These cars are truly gems!

Re: 1975cvcc build (thesmogman's)
The fuel pump is not working I drained the gas/paint thinner out of the tank, got a new batttery, replaced two fuses, and still no vroom vroom.
The good news is while I had it up on the rack I was able to inspect the chassis and I am pleased to say NO rust. No scrapes or dents. Well I did find the jack and it was rusted in the little hole for it. So that is the only rust to really worry about.
So I got a few Q's..
Where is the Fuel pump? -in the tank? Heard of an access panel under the rear seat, is this true?
And second, What is the name or that rust converter/sealer? Or if you could suggest one.
Thanx for the help!

POR 15 is the rust remover..
last i remember, i could be 100% long, the fuel pump works off of the motor, the cam specifically..

POR 15 doesn't "remove" rust, but I highly recommend it. It encapsulates the rust and basically stops it from causing more damage. The surface is rock hard and looks great.

You can get it in a few different colors.

Under the back seat, Thanks. Now I got to figure out how to remove the back seats. Are they the normal push to the back and pull up on the front? I tried this but it didn't work. I didn't force it either. Darn this thing is throwing my thru hoops.
I got quoted $175 for the pump. I have found them for $60

You have to remove the back bolt first..(10mm socket) Then lift up on the back and pull up on the seat. I have a pump if you want it. I'm not gonna need it cause i'm in the process of puttin a k20z3 in it. Where do you live?

Re: 1975cvcc build (thesmogman's)
I thought I would give you an update on Sally...
Had to get the tank boiled. It was plugged (the gas out line) and coated in muck.
Replaced the fuel pump.
Replaced the brake lines and MC - The MC's piston stuck inside when started to bleed the brakes.
Rebuilt the carb. Then adjusted the carb.
Replaced all vacuum lines and throughly cleaned the engine bay.
When I checked the timing belt I noticed that the top end wasn't getting oil so replaced the oil pump too.
And the best part I drove her for the first time last week.
pic's to come SOON!!

Here's a little motivation for you!!!
Please don't do a swap. Too many people are ruining these cars by hacking them up to fit another engine in there. Nothing wrong with throwing a Weber on the 1200 and get it going that way.
And to the dude that said any swap would be a cheap swap? Got to be joking.
Good luck and keep us updated on your work.

I really need to find myself a first gen. All of them are across the country and you cant find them up here in the rust belt.

But their 3 step process is a PITA and it doesn't seal as well as the other stuff I've tried from
www.rustbullet.com. Moreover, it's cheaper than POR-15 too.

It was fun putting it around. I already had people stop in an intersection without a stop sign just starring at it. I also have a few mechanics in the area that really dig it.
Swap..... Not until it is needed. This motor is purring like a kitten after the rebuilt carb. Plus I have another rebuilt motor ready to go in if needed.
Thanks for the rust stopper suggestions, most of it will sand away but there are a few small spots that could use some attention.
Pics will be on there way soon as I need to load the s/w for my camera. I promise you will like them.
PS: I pulled the radiator and fan to flush the old coolant out, new paint, thermostat and hoses to complete the job. You will not recogonize the engine bay now. It is Sweet!
