1972 Honda N600
First off I’d like to introduce myself- my name is Robert Holmes, I’m 25 and from Olympia, WA. The inspiration for this build came from when I watched a few YouTube videos of Hayabusa powered classic Mini Coopers and came across the VFR800 N600 that was built. I’m a certified motorcycle tech and have been a dirt bike enthusiast my whole life. Been racing dirt bikes (motocross, flat track, supermoto) since I was 8.
I picked up A yellow 1971 N600 in Oct of 2017. It was a rust bucket but had decent interior and for the most part was all there. I got it home, gutted the interior and pressure washed the shell. I then realized the amount of rust damage in the door jams, around the rear side window seals (basically the whole bottom of each window), and fenders.
I then found a purplish blue 1972 N600 on “offer up” for $400. A week goes by and it’s down to $100. I shoot the guy an offer of $40 and go pick it up the next morning. It had no interior, side windows, no rear window, trunk, and cam holder was taken apart and missing. But the shell itself was in a lot better condition than the yellow 1971.
I plan to install either a CBR1000 engine or a D16. The ideal build would be the D16 but its going to come down to what I can squeeze in the engine bay.
