Default Would this setup work? (amp, sub, box)

The Amp: MTX Thunder81000D Class D Amplifier

http://www.cardomain.com/item/MTX81000D

Sub x 2: RFR 2212
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

Box: Sealed Box for 2 subs, 1 cf each

Here's my question, I have the above items but I want to know if this will work. From what I've read I'm pretty sure I need a bigger box for these subs. 2 CF or greater. What should I do? Should I get rid of the subs and get some other ones that will work? What do you guys recommend

If you're gonna use a mono amp on those subs, you're gonna need one that's 1 ohm stable. We use to sell an MTX amp, the TA 8701 or something like that that was 1500watts RMS x 1 at 1ohm.

You can either wire them both together in parallel:

Or wire them in series:

Or you can get a 2-channel amp and run them in stereo (not bridged, 1ch to each sub) with each sub wired in parallel so each sub is at 2ohms:

Here's that mtx amp I was talking about, the TA81001: http://www.cardomain.com/item/MTXTA81001

You might wanna check this amp out: http://www.concept-intl.net/pr...ifier

I can pretty much guarantee that box is gonna be too small. IMO these Eclipse SVC aluminums would be much better. $200 is cheap! That's how I would get them for thru dealer accomodations! http://cgi.ebay.com/ECLIPSE-SW...wItem

With this box (the JUG series one): http://www.audioenhancers.com/...ml#JU

thanks for the response so far. I think what it comes down to is that subs need to be replaced. The box is a custom box for my integra so I have to keep it. Now I just have to find subs which will be a match with the box.

My bad, the amp I specified earlier is wrong. It's actually a MTX 81000d. Its the one that accepts only the 0 gauge power wire.

You're gonna have hard time finding that amp because that model is like 2 or 3 yrs old. It looks like sound domain won't be getting anymore either. The MTX amp I mentioned is the newer version of the one you're talking about.

The MTX amp, [Thunder 8100D] is 1000W rms into 2 ohms... http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/pr...6.pdf
just enough power to run one of the R/F 12" subs, [sorry, could not find any info on the subs at R/F.com] so I have no info on box size.

Any sub you use that is 1000W continuous, will need something better thin a pre-built box for them to work properly. 94

Man that amp is the one to have. I wish I could get a hold of two. For your subs look at the mtx T7512-04 Its 400 rms and will work in your enclosure . .75-1.5 is its working job. Its 400rms so you will be a lil over there workin specs. But I have run those subs at 500 rms with no problem. And there not that hard on the budget. Or If you have a lil more cash to spend get the T8512-04. There 500 rms. Set back is there a lil pricey and your enclosure is a lil to small. They work great in 1-2.5 sealed. It will not work since your enclosure is 1 cft. You have to take in to account the speaker displacement. You could stuff the enclosure to make it think its in a bigger one. But I would just build a new one. Ask integracraze on t-i. I put two t7512-04 in his teg hatch with a 1k Eclipse amp. That amp was nowere near 1k but it still knocked. And when I let him try my TA81001 there a nite and day diffrence. 1 more set back with that amp is that your going to have to do the "big 3 upgrade" and ditch the factory or weak stock battery. Find something with as much cold cranking amps as possiable. Throw a cap on it too. It will help out alot. Trust me. Autozone has some that won't break the budget and there warrenty policy return is great. A new alternator would greatly help out alot or a second battery but would not be nessacery. Just run the car while is on. With this set up your going to be heard for blocks away. Keep us posted on how it comes out. O by the way On integracraze car I used a vented rectangle enclosure. No tunk, lol. But the sealed is going to knock really well.

Yeah the bigger battery, cap, wiring upgrade I saw that coming.

I heard a lot of good reviews about the amp, I bought it a year ago and I want to put it to work now that I got the major car problems taken care of.

I'll probably get the mtx T7512-04 since it will work the box. I'll have to sell the rockford subs on ebay or something like that.

So a optima yellow top battery would be good?
