Default Wiring Up A Amp

Ok i took the stereo out of my old car which had a jvc head unit, sony amp, and rockford punch series componants. it was all wired up before and i am trying to put it in my new car so i hooked up all the power and ground wires to the head unit then grounded the amp and used the blue wire from the head unit for the input (it was the only non power wire that was a single color) and for the power i tried just taping in to the stereo power wire but all i was getting out of the speakers was some fuze... now i think my problem is i need a dedicated power source for the amp... is that true or am i going off the wrong input wire????

thanks for the help

lol, sry you cant tap into wires with an amp. you need a direct wire from the battery. Go and buy an amp wiring kit. They are like 30 dollars. if your desprit go to walmart they got them also!

Blue, or maybe blue/white, wire from the deck goes to the remote connector on the amp, yes.
