Default Where to place the bypass module antenna ring?

I can't get my bypass module to work to remotely start the car. I tried moving the key inside the bypass anyway I could and it did not help. I figure it must be the antenna...I'm not sure if I placed it right. Take a look at this pic:

Does this look correct to you?

Here is on the opposite side of the ignition switch, may be it should go here??

You may have to move it closer to where the key gos in, the black housing around where you put the key in is the transponder pickup, you must put the ant.ring there. BTW what kind of bypass mod. have you got? and have you done a test start to make sure the rest of the remotestarter works? 94

here's a tip that will save you a ton of time re-adjusting and stuff. Move the ring to a place it works without putting the steering column crap back on. Once you have it working, use some electrical tape to hold it in place (I'd use the 3M stuff, not the cheaper crappy ****.. the 3m Super33+ seems to hold really well in all conditions) Anyhow, once it's taped into place, double check it still works. If not, move the antenna slightly and try again. If it does, pop your steering column stuff back on and re-check. If it works you're set to go.

that yellow line is where I ran mine and it worked perfect.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too, but it seems to me like it won't fit inside...and I'm too chicken to break the stuff inside the black housing. The antenna's diameter is too big too...may be I should cut it and make it smaller??

It's an Omega bypass module. I'm not sure if it's a good one, but I hope I can get it to work properly.

Yeah, I tested the remote start with having the key in the ignition switch and it started beautifully

Ok, I won't cut it.. It's not programmable and it wants a spare key Good thing it goes on the outside...I'll give it another try.

ooooooo is it the omega one that has two double sided taped circuit boards you tape to the key? i have had a ton of problems with a friend of mines store, he ordered 6 of them and i got 2 to work lol i switched to teh 555u or made my own with relay and small gauge wire (led wire is what i used) and they work every time . but those omegas suck , i heard from our distributor that alot of people are returning them

Yeah, it has those double sided taped circuits on bottom and on top. Just tried to do the way I was told and couldn't get it to start. I guess you're right, they do suck...but I'm still hoping, so I'll try some more tomorrow. If not, can you tell me how did you make your own bypass with a relay?? Otherwise, I will just buy one from bypasskits.com, they seem to make one specifically for my car (00 lude)...It'll just suck being without the remote start for a couple of weeks... ...though, good thing it's not winter yet

just do it like i showed in the pic above. You have to put the ring around the round section of the black unit where the key goes. It can rest against the flat section that extends out past the circle ring. put it there and hold it loosely in place with some electrical tape, but for looks just make sure the electrical tape doesn't really go up on the factory key ring section. It's ok that the antenna loop is bigger than the ring. Check that it works, and if so put the covers for your steering column back on.

Hm, yeah...may be the power cord is unplugged? Yesterday, I was lucky enough for some reason to decide to connect my underdash neons to the same 12v wire that powers the bypass. Aha, neons were silent as well, so I checked the wire and found that it had a broken connection. This time I soldered it and now the bypass works like a charm!! Just gotta go to the dealer and get a second key...then I'd be all done with my alarm install

PS you should not have anything else powered with the alarm/remote power.

You meant DO CUT, right? Yeah, I think I will have to do it, to be safe.

Why not? I got my 12v from the thick wire that goes into ignition. From there I connected my sensors and couple neons. Everything seems to work fine. Someone told me I'd need a seperate cable running from the battery for the neons, but right now they run off like a 18 gauge wire...and that wire is connected to like a 20 gauge 12v wire, going to the bypass. I looked at the size of the power wire that goes to the cigarette lighter, and it's not that big at all...and it powers my 400 watt converter which I use to power battery chargers, tv, vcr, laptop...so I think neons won't be much of a trouble.
