About a month ago when I took my Alpine out of my car, I had it sitting in my back seat and it was stolen. I still have the face plate. It's a model from 1999.

I just saw an auction en ebay for the same radio, with faceplate. It states that the face doesn't light up and the buttons are not working, but that sound comes out for one station and you cannot change the station. That's all he says, other than it is being sold as-is of course.

Does that sound like a bad faceplate (in which case my faceplate will make it work fine), or a bad radio (in which case I'll have two good faceplates and a broken radio)?

could be either, if you cant change n e thing it could be the faceplate not doing its job, but then again the whole thing could be f'ed
