I would look at Rockford Fosgate HX2's or Power HX2's....

and if money is no object than of course the JL W7's or even W3V2's

DEI CompX, can run in incredibbly small enclosures and will ROCK THE HOUSE! They come with 3 different enclosure size recommendations, SQ, SQ/SPL mix or SPL.

not very cheap tho, but check em out.

diamond audio TDX will work wonderful in a ported 2.5 cu ft box. i have a single tuned to 33hz right now and it hits so hard my eyelids rumble. im only sending 1000 watts to it from my ARC. its rated at 1500 watts RMS. if u want i can let u listen to it, im in so cal.

aren't you guys forgetting probably the one best spl sub of all time...the DD 9515? there are some awesome brands out there that aren't as well known ie Resonant Engineering, Shocker, Elemental Designs, Orion...the list goes on.

Of course the 9515...strokers, xxx, armegedons, ummm thats all the pops into my head right now. I would recommend the 9515's...bad *** sub. RMS is like 2400 watts (1200 per vc). Someone correct me if im wrong, but didnt 2 9515's outhit 40 L7's (team gates i think i was?). I think that dd's hit like 170 or 171...somethin in that range.

EDIT:
oops, didnt notice u said cheap...9515's are like 700 a piece, then another 2000 to power them. DD's lower level subs are good too. 2 3512's with like an mmats d300hc would be a very quality setup, and very loud!

could also look into the Treo subs. The SS model (or whichever are the 1000 watt RMS ones) aren't a bad deal.

2 years ago michael hughes beat team gates with 4 dd 9515's and now he is on team gates!! funny how that works... another guy nathan munson hit 171 with one dd 9515 and then did 169 with one dd 9510 ( yes ten inch )!!!!!

if you guys know anyone who wants to buy a 9515 i have one for sale.... e-mail me...

it is one of the subs that set the world record !!!! i use crossfire bmf1000d's for power ....

i dunno if i really wanna go for spl but more of just hitting pretty damn hard for a daily driven crx. i was thinkin about gettin 2 10 inch kicker comp vr's, and a jbl1200.1 amp, then someone prolly get 2 more 10s and another amp if it needs more power. what do you think about this? would you expect it to hit pretty hard.

i just need some thump right now, all my **** got stolen and its been like 3 weeks with no music or anything. sucks *****. any opinions?

boomn,

Since you own a dd95xx you are probably best suited to answer this. How loud can it get with 2500 watts? Is it dual 2 ohm? How much are you selling it for?

I want to do some competitions in car audio. The sq comps seem too difficult. I was thinking about trying an spl setup with another sub. I would keep my tdx for daily driving of course.

For hitting hard I would take the solo's over the compvrs. A pair of solo 10's would be nice.

I don't think the compvr's can deal with 600 watts rms.

I don't know what to tell you. You've been asking this question for a while now. Get the same setup that your friend has and call it a day.
