What to get...
Im trying to decide on what sound system to get that wouldnt cost that much. I just want some good sounds with a good range of bass. From factory size speakers to subs. (btw, what is the size of the factory speakers for 01 civic?) I also dont know what size subs i should get. Should I get 2 12s or 2 10s will be more than enough? What are my options? What amp to get? Also, Im kinda under budget. So something good but not that expensive. I was looking at the price of a 12" kicker cvr. It was $110 I dont know if thats a good price or not. Thanks in advance.
That would be hard to answer, your budget is only one factor to take into account.
What kind of music do you listen to?
What kind of sound are you looking for? "good range of bass" is kind of relative.
Are you looking for good, clean, accurate sound, or a "ground pounder"?
Do you want it all right away, or would you be willing to build on the system over a period of time to get what you want?
Do you have a favorite brand, or one that you would want to stay away from?
Here are a few hints to help you get what you want..........
1- The HU you get is going to be your most important part of the system you get, everything will depend on it, from SQ to control to how you like the look of it.
2- Building a system a little at a time is probably the best way to go if your on a tight budget.
3-Stick with brand name equipment and get it from authorized dealers, a car is a harsh environment for a sound system, so manufacturer's warranty is very important.
4- The installation of the system is very important, it will make no difference if you have the best equipment if it's improperly installed, the installation of the speakers alone, [including sub/s] can make a world of diff.
There is a lot of good car audio out there, along with a lot more crap.
IMO Alpine makes one of the best HUs out there, you can get an Alpine HU with all the control you need, built in, HP/LP x-over, sub level and phase control, time correction, parametric EQ, and a ton of other features, http://www.alpine.com
I like the Eclipse speaker line, lots to choose from, http://www.eclipse-web.com
I prefer JL Audio amps and subs, http://www.jlaudio.com
I hope this helps, feel free to IM me if you need more help
