what does valet switch do?
sup honda-tech i'm back in the honda scene, just traded a q45 for a jdm front integra gsr all bone stock anyways today i just took my car and installed a clifford 2 way pager alarm and they installed a VALET switch. what is it for and what does it do? the people at the place didnt really explain to me what it do. thanks
The valet button is for putting the system in and out of valet mode, [service mode] when in valet mode the LED will stay on solid, [not blink] and only power door locks will work, [if connected] the park lights will flash, [if connected] but alarm will not arm.
The valet button is also the system program button.
Did you not get the owners and install guide for the system?
What is the model of the alarm? 94

It has nothing to do with "securing the car", it is used for programing the alarm, it is used to disarm the alarm without the remote, [in case remote is damaged] and it is used to put alarm system into valet mode, [service mode] valet mode is only really needed if the alarm has been programed for passive arming, [alarm arms itself].
Your main use for the valet switch, [if programed for active arming instead of passive arming] is to have a way to disarm the alarm if the remote does not work.
The valet switch should be well hidden but accessible. 94
