im about to buy a amp and i dont know if the phoenix gold is worth it

i heard the memphis in my boys blazer running off 4 12's and when you sit in his car it feels like your gonna have a heart attack

There both good amps, As long as you match the rms of your speaker to the rms out put of the amp you will be good to go. The sound factor is going to come from the enclosure, what shape the subs are in, your charging system. What you hear in your friends truck is not what your going to get in your car do to cabin gain and the charistics of you car vs his truck. You can get the same hard hitting bass the your set up is going to be diffrent.

It makes a diff., one is a 1000W sub the other is a 500W sub. 94

Either way both amps are under-powered for the subs.

The PG is rated at 800W RMS into 2 ohms
The Memphis is rated at 791W RMS into 2 ohms, although you can get 997W RMS into 1 ohm @ 14V 94

The JL Audio 1000/1v2 is a very good 1000W RMS mono block sub amp.
