tweeter setting.. 0db, -3db, -6db.. which one?

tweeter setting.. 0db, -3db, -6db.. which one?
simple enough, my car has factory tweeters, and inline resistors built into the tweeter.. so im upgrading with some MB Quarts, but unsure which ports to use.. can anyone explain the difference between the 3.. my guess is each setting modifys the amount of mids into the tweeter.
