Default turn off capacitor?

alright so i just got a capacitor for my subs, and my only question is: its one of those that displays voltage, but even when car and all acessories are off, it keeps the display on, should i worry about this draining my battery? or did i wire it wrong or somthing? its just grounded, then positive in series with the amp power wire.

What is the make and model of cap, there should be a 3rd terminal, a small one for the HUs amp turn on lead, so display is only on when HU is on. 94

I dont know what kind of cap you have but the display should have a remote wire of some sort.

When I hook Caps up I also use a relay to cut power to the cap. Every cap made leaks current. Extended periods of time with the car off can drain the battery.

its a pyramid CAP160DBL 1.6 farad, ebay trash, i know. i thaught id looked into them well enough.

no there isnt a remote wire. i only noticed the 2 big terminals.

a relay is an excellent idea, i dont know much about what relays do what, so what kind of size or type should i get for that?

and thank you for your help so far.

(edit) also: as for the relay, should it be wired to the power or ground side? i would assume power, but i just wanna get everything right here.

That would mean if the cap discharges, [not connected for a period of time, it would instantly charge every time the relay is energized, and what size, [amperage] relay are you using? 94

It "instantly" charges everytime the amp discharges it. Caps are made to charge and discharge instantaniously.

We are talking large relays here 100A. In fact I believe some of the larger cap manufacturers supply relays like alumapro 15 Farad caps if I am not mistaken come with relays.
