1. get a 12 volt power supply from radio shack.
2. get some black and red wire and small alligator clips too.
3. hook up black wire to negative of power supply and negative on radio
4. hook up red wire to positive of power supply and positive on radio
5. you can also hook ithe radio up to a speaker to test for sound

Too much work (and money). Connect it directly to the battery. All you need is the yellow (positive) power wire, and the ground. Touch them to the battery terminals and hook up a speaker.

I found that my computer scanner had an input of 12 V DC so I use that for testing. Works well

You need the harness for that radio then.

If you're handy with a soldering iron you can solder wires straight onto the pins in the back. I've done this to several radios

I usually solder these straight onto the speaker, power ground wires etc in the car.
If you know which wire goes where it's a great help, otherwise you have an hour or so with a test light and a multimeter ahead of you
