All the more reason to run the right amount of power to the sub.
Clipping/distortion does not = sound quality, and as it is a lot easier to clip an under-powered system then it is to clip an over-powered system you will continue to get advice to up the wattage of your system.

Again, it is not the under-powered amp that does any harm to a speaker, it is driving that amp into constant clipping that hurts the speaker, [burnt VCs] and effects SQ.

I for one, am not suggesting that you double your wattage for SPL reasons, as it will only get you another 3dB anyway, I recommend it specifically for SQ and to protect the speaker 94

1. if you're going to SQ why would you get an L7 in the first place??
2. dont ask for opinions on your system if you're going to tell everyone their advice doesnt matter.
3. you need a bigger amp

I have to agree with EBP_SI, if you don't want our opinions, you shouldn't have asked, but you did and pretty much all of us told you the same thing, if you chose to ignore that, that's up to you.

You are correct, as long as you do not over-drive the amp, you will not hurt the sub, but you will also not get the performance the sub is capable of if it is under-powered.
I have been doing this a very long time and I can probably count, on one hand, the under-powered systems that did not eventually damage the speaker(s), my system being one of them, so if you can get away with it, you can join a very exclusive club 94
